Assam is the gateway to the North-East, dominated by the mighty Brahmputra river that has its origins in Tibet. Assam is a major tea producing area and is also the natural habitat of India's rare one-homed Rhinoceros. One can view gushing rivers on one side, snow capped mountains on the other and lush forests in between.

How to reach: Indian Airlines -connects Guwahati with Calcutta, Delhi, Bagdogra, Imphal, Agartala. Guwahati is connected by good motorable roads with Shillong (103 kms), Kaziranga National Park (217 kms), Manas wildlife Sanctuary (176 kms), Dimapur (1280 kms), Itanagar (420 kms), Imphal (487 kms), Agartala (599 kms), Aizwal (538 kms), Gangtok (624 kms), Darjeeling (587 kms), Calcutta (1182 kms), and Kohima (342 kms).
