Durga Puja/Dussehra 
October/November
Images of the goddess Durga are set up at different parts of the city and worshipped for four days. On the last day, the images are taken in a procession and then immersed in the river with great ceremony. Dussehra, symbolizing victory of good over evil, is also celebrated with great enthusiasm.

December
Celebrated in worship of the snow  range of Khangchen - do - zonge or Kanchenjunga. The traditional mask dances by the lamas or monks are performed all over Gangtok.
