India says launches fresh wave of Kashmir strikes
JAMMU, India, May 27 (Reuters) - India launched on Thursday what a senior defence official
said was the fourth air strike of the day gainst ``infiltrators'' holed up in mountains on
the Indian side of a ceasefire line dividing India and Pakistan in Kashmir.
``The fourth sortie of the day has taken off from Srinagar just now,'' the official, who
did not want to be identified, told Reuters by telephone.
The defence official said one Indian MiG 27 was shot down in the Kaksar-Drass sector while
another went down after encountering a mechanical failure. He added that a search had been
launched for the jet which came down due to technical problems.
